A well equipped camping near Middelburg with friendly staff. Clean toilet and free showers.
Campsite just 15 minutes walk from centre. Perfect facilities and advice. Pitches a little narrow (especially at €40pn, Aug23) but plenty of space in front of campers. Follow their directions carefully to avoid back streets!
Awesome campsite. Excellent wifi up to 100mb when I tested. The toilet and other facilities are top notch, the best among our trip. Also have proper location for grey water and toilet waste.
Entering and exit is easy with car plate recognized autogate system. Just make sure you provide the car plate number upon registration. Otherwise you have to walk into the reception to get it done . NOTE that if you come after 5 ( or 6) pm you will have to call their service number like I did. Nevertheless a pleasant experience
Staying at this campsite was my first experience camping in the Netherlands, and my first ever experience caravanning as an adult. As a last-minute booker, this campsite was the only option left in this area of Zeeland when I booked, and I believe it's due to the high price compared to other similar sites, and also judging from other reviews.
My caravan has its own wash facilities which we used for all but one of us (my disabled father-in-law). On top of the base fee, we paid an additional €15 per person which included 3 adults, a 4-year-old, a 1-year-old, and a 2-month-old. In hindsight, the additional water and electricity we used for our 3 young children, especially the two youngest, is not proportional to the additional cost, and we find that the additional cost of €15 per person regardless of age, and despite us taking up the same space, is disproportionate to the additional costs to the campsite. If a guest has this many young children, then I would recommend they choose a campsite that doesn't charge in this way. A 2-month-old certainly uses less facilities than an adult. In retrospect, the total cost was not much less than a family room in a hotel.
The restaurant was a quiet place to work during the day away from the kids in the caravan. But despite having a large coffee machine and hot chocolate machine, the staff did not know how to operate them. I was unable to order a cappuccino at any time for two days despite the facilities being available. It made me wonder, what's the point in having such great equipment if they're not able to be used?
Also, the WiFi in the restaurant was very bad - certainly not good enough for work video calls. I had to resort to using a mobile hotspot for my WiFi connection.
The central sanitary facilities, namely the disabled facilities that my father-in-law used were excellent. They are very clean and modern.
Overall, the camping experience was good, but let down by details such as poor WiFi in the restaurant, and unusable hot drinks equipment. With a premium price, one would expect such details to be on point, but this is definitely an overpriced campsite for larger families for what you get compared to other similar campsites with lower prices.
We booked a chalet/cabin on this camping just the night before arrival for approximately €100 for the night.
This price was quite high for a camping place, but to be honest.. the cabin is very clean, well equiped and in excellent condition (brand new like).
The camping itself is located in a quiet and remote part of Middelburg, but only 10 minutes away from the city center.
Therefor you won't have problems with noise or busy traffic.
The camping is also quiet on itself and quite "empty" due to distribution of campersites and cabins.
Staff is utmost friendly, helpful and welcoming.
In short, we were very satisfied for this camping, but a price of around €80-€85 per night for the cabins would be more justified / a better value.
A lovely welcome at reception, but it is a pricey stay, for what appears to little more than an Aire, albeit with good showers and toilets. Also, despite there being runs of 4/5 empty spaces, on each row, we still had someone park in the …
New site very close to the city of Middelburg. All new and very clean. Paid 40€ for one night off-season which is about 25%-50% more than comparable sites, rather hard to justify. Friendly staff who had let us in although reception was already closed.
It was quite an informative and nice experience. It was so special to meet Mrs. Ria, a surviver of the 1953 flood and share her thoughts among our group.
